Remembering the mountains

This time 3 years ago I was packing in my job and heading away to the mountains.  Armed with my snowboard, boyfriend, yorkshire tea and hedgehog teddy we were set for the snow...

Its scary to think how quickly this time has passed... So I have decided to post in pictures my season
The boy and me outside our chalet on the first big snow fall

We lived and worked in a chalet in Val d'Isere.  As you can see the views were fantastic everytime you looked out.
Getting the food delivery for our guests
We made loads of friends.  The rest of the workers from our chalet, and also the workers at the Mark Warner hotel next door to us

Enjoying the photos of the kickers built out back

Many nights out
Plenty of drinking
Gossiping with the girls
Everyone needs the chalet clowns :)

So there was always plenty going on, especially within Val d'Isere as there was the downhill skiing championships hosted right under our noses.  Many travelled far and wide to see these crazy people fly down the mountain at a scarily fast speed.

hundreds and hundreds turned up

On our afternoons off and days off, we often built kickers at the back to see who could manage to make it over... preferably without bailing!

Obviously general boarding and skiing about the beautiful mountains was the reason we were there.  I did find a love for skiing (until it caused me to tear my ACL) especially loved skiing over from Val d'Isere to Tignes to grab a morning coffee and swoooshing my way back again.
Stunning in the evening, and messing about on New Years Eve 2009
So this was my season in Val d'Isere!  I can certainly say I learnt a lot, I did miss home a lot but also enjoyed meeting new people and of course being up in the mountains everytime I woke up! Is anyone off boarding or skiing this year?

  2. It looks like you had an incredible time! If I could ski or snowboard I'd probably do something like this, too. They're the kind of experiences money can't buy.
