Welcome to 2018! I can’t believe the New Year is here already, but don’t worry I’m getting you all set for the new year with some fitness technology. This time I’ve teamed up with my friends at John Lewis* to show you some of their fitness technology and wellbeing
products, all of which can help you on your way to becoming a healthier version of yourself. In this day and age, using fitness wearables and the latest exercise gadgets is something we can’t avoid or dismiss, so what fitness technology is going to really help you make 2018 your year of fitness?
Fitness Technology For Activity
Samsung Gear Sport | This is my latest fitness watch from Samsung. I got to test this watch out and so far I am absolutely loving it. Don’t worry I’ll be doing a full review of the watch – but it does everything you can possibly want a fitness watch to do. It won me over because it is actually waterproof too and you can do full swim training, something not many ‘activity trackers’ offer.
Bose SoundSport Headphones |
Having decent headphones for exercising it important – as fitness technology goes, it is my number one priority! If you get some that are uncomfortable and don’t fit properly, it’s going to annoy you whilst you’re exercising! If you are looking for some new ones, explore what sort of style you want. Over the ear or in the ear? These ones are weather resistant as well, which if I’m honest is pretty important if you train in the UK and outside!
Go Pro Hero 5 |
I thoroughly enjoyed recording my sports activities whenever I can. The best thing about a Go Pro is that you can get harnesses and attachments to use your camera for any activity. I’ve had cameras similar to Go Pros to see the difference, and from my experience, the Go Pro is the best camera. Ideally, I’d use it for tracking cycles with a helmet attachment, not just to watch the video back of your ride, but also for safety when it comes to cycling on the roads.
Garmin Heart Rate Monitor |
Keeping a healthy heart rate is very important, but in terms of actual training, a heart rate monitor will really help you. By using a heart rate monitor you can track your heart rate zones for when you reach your peak and fat burning stages of exercise. It will guide you on when you are pushing too hard, and when you need to step it up a gear.
Kettler Exercise Bike |
Sometimes it is hard to get to the gym, or perhaps you just don’t like the gym. For me personally, I don’t do the gym at all, as I’d prefer to train at home or go for a run. I have set up an outdoor gym in my carport for weight training, with a treadmill and turbo to do for cardio. So, if like me you want to be at home, perhaps investing in some good gym-like equipment for home would be a good move. You basically have no excuse but to exercise, and best of all in your own home!
Fitness Technology For Home
Nutri-Bullet Juice Blender |
I originally wasn’t sure of these but they seem to have stuck around after the initial fitness buzz, but actually having the ease of making smoothies and fresh fruit juices on the go is genius. Half the problem people find with healthy eating is ease, if it is easy then we’re more likely to do it. Healthy smoothies to go? Yes, please!
Tefal Optigrill |
I got one of these a few years ago and I absolutely can’t fault it. I have made some really good food cooking swaps since we got one. Things such as grilling bacon instead of frying it on the Tefal Optigirll is interesting, the amount of fat you can eliminate is alarming! It gives you a cooking rating so you can cook your food to the level you want. It is a must if you need a hand in making your food healthy… plus it is so easy to use.
Garmin Scales |
As much as people are afraid of the scales, it is always wise to keep on top of your weight. We’ll fluctuate from time to time… such as Christmas and the overindulgence, but chances are only by a few pounds. However, by having scales it will help show if you need to take some serious action in terms of eating and exercise habits, but essentially it’s there to keep you on the right track.
