How to Make Your Spare Room Multi-Functional with New Simba Sleep Essentials
After completing a full house rewire, we were finally left with freshly plastered and painted walls. With everything looking crisp and new, it felt like the ideal time to rethink our back bedroom. Previously it had been my office, but once I stepped back into the refreshed space, I realised it could be something so much more. We decided to transform it into a hobby-meets-guest room, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite rooms in the house… also the dog seems to think it is now her bedroom!

Our New Multi-Purpose Hobby & Guest Room
The back bedroom now combines a few of our favourite things:
- Guitars displayed on the wall
- My Echelon workout bike for quick indoor sessions
- A sunshine spot for Winnie to enjoy
- Our projector setup for cosy home-cinema movie nights (I’m a HUGE film fan!)
It’s a room that’s practical, fun, and a great place to unwind.

Where Simba Comes In: The Guest Bed Setup
You’re probably wondering how Simba fits into this makeover. We wanted the room to work as a comfortable guest space without dedicating it to a full-time bed. So we went for a clever combination:
Day Bed – This lets us style the room like a sofa lounge for movie nights or guitar playing, but it easily pulls out into a full bed when friends or family stay over.
SIMBA Hybrid Mattress (single) – We’ve had a Simba double mattress in our main bedroom for a while, and it has been incredible for both my triathlon training recovery and for helping me maintain good-quality sleep, which is especially important for managing my epilepsy. So choosing a Simba single Hybrid mattress for our guest room setup made perfect sense. Guests get the same comfort and support we’ve enjoyed for so long.
During the order process, I found the Simba live chat on their website really helpful for checking details and delivery updates. It’s located on the top right-hand corner of their homepage and is a great way to get quick answers, especially since some items can arrive separately or at different times.

Completing the Set in Our Main Bedroom: The SIMBA Duvet
Simba very kindly sent us their duvet to go with the Simba double mattress we already had in our main bedroom. I honestly didn’t expect to feel such a difference, but it is absolutely gorgeous. It’s light, soft, temperature-regulating and gives that “hotel bed” feel every single night. I have honestly slept even better since upgrading.
As someone who trains hard and relies on high-quality sleep to manage life with epilepsy, comfort at night isn’t just a luxury – it’s essential!! The duvet has really completed the setup.

Why Good Sleep Matters: Quick, Helpful Sleep Facts
Sleep & Athletic Recovery
- Sleep is when the body repairs muscles after training.
- Quality rest improves performance, endurance and reaction times.
- Reduced pressure points (something Simba mattresses do really well) help support recovery.
Sleep & Epilepsy
- Consistent sleep contributes to overall steadiness and wellbeing.
- A calm sleep environment supports better day-to-day management.
- Lack of good sleep honestly impacts my epilepsy like you wouldn’t imagine, this is a must.
General Sleep Benefits
- Better mood, more focus, and more balanced energy levels.
- Breathable, temperature-regulating bedding can reduce night-time disturbances.

Final Thoughts: A Room That Works Hard & Helps Us Rest
Our back bedroom has gone from being an office to a wonderful multi-use space we genuinely enjoy spending time in. It’s our hobby room, workout spot, home cinema, and now a fully functional guest room – all without losing comfort or style.
With the two Simba Mattresses in our main room and now in the guest bed, plus the SIMBA duvet completed in our main bedroom, everything feels finished, cosy, and ready for visitors.
