As many of you will know, we have developed a rather substantial soft spot for the US. With training, racing, media work and my full-time job, I’m now crossing the pond several times a year.
Having spent the last few years building my travel points with the Delta/Virgin/Air France code share group ‘SkyTeam’, meaning when booking, we tend to either fly Delta or Virgin. Their hubs in Atlanta and Salt Lake City, as well as plentiful direct routes. This means we can get good value to either the East or West coasts and our most visited destinations.
Often needing to work on the go, the Airport lounge has become a staple of our travels! We’re fortunate to have a few to choose from. As a Delta Gold member, we get access to the shared lounge from Club Aspire at Heathrow, the fantastic Virgin Lounge in San Francisco, and now, through a little known quirk of the SkyTeam partnership, the superb new Air France Lounge at LAX.
Meet the new Air France Lounge
This brand new facility has only been open a matter of weeks. Although it’s fairly inconveniently located for UK bound Virgin flights, we recommend you make time to visit, as it truly is spectacular.
Open to all Gold and above (or Elite Plus in SkyTeam parlance), Air France have created something really special in a neglected concourse of LAX!
From the convivial ‘Bonjour!’ as you enter, to the beautiful timeless deco destination prints, the space oozes Parisian glamour. A huge and varied wine menu! Vast dining options (with French and English titles and descriptions, naturally) and live Chefs cooking station. This really is an elevated lounge experience.
Is it worth a visit on your next visit to LAX?
The pictures speak for themselves, so if you find yourself travelling internationally through LAX on a Sky Team partner flight, I promise you wont be disappointed!
Where’s your favourite airport hidden gem?
