Breakfast is not only my favourite meal of the day, but also the most important meal of the day.  It kicks starts your body into gear but boosting your metabolism and fuelling your body for the day ahead. You’ll often find most of food related posts will be in someway connected to eating breakfast, what I’ve had, what I want and what I’m planning to create! The lovely folk over at Nestlé Cereals got in touch explaining there was going to be a new pop-up event coming to Westfield Stratford. Introducing the Nestlé Cereals Aisle of Wonder!

Before I was due to visit the mysterious Aisle of Wonder, Nestlé Cereals organised for me to record my weekly breakfast diary and then speak to a nutritionist. Juliette Kellow was on board to offer me a bespoke Breakfast MOT! Even though I felt my general breakfast eating skills were not too bad, (which I was told they weren’t) my main problem was apparently variety. Basically I tend to eat the same thing on a daily basis, which is overnight oats then for a random day or two I’ll throw in a few rounds of toast on a weekend instead… but that is about it. After considering it further, I did  discover it may be lacking in a few things. She gave me some great suggestions including to up my calcium in take because I wasn’t getting enough, and to look at trying Shredded Wheat with some chopped up fruit on it for a bit more variation. I used to always eat Shredded Wheat but it took a back seat when I got excitable about eating my overnight oats, and filling them with nuts and seeds.

So as I say I was off to Aisle of Wonder! Up at breakfast o’clock (well 4.30am to catch my train which I had to sprint for!) I headed over to Westfield Stratford to visit this unique pop-up cereal experience. The idea behind it was that you could start the day by creating your own bespoke cereal blend created from a selection of 12 Nestlé breakfast cereals which you can enjoy with a variety of toppings, milk and yogurt. I must admit on the train journey my protein shake started to look tempting, but I figure as I was visiting I may be able to sneak a cheeky bowl of cereal no?!

The Aisle of Wonder |

Aisle Of Wonder is parked on the first floor of Westfields Stratford. It’s right near John Lewis and consists of essentially a pick and mix of cereal! Add fruit, add seeds, add nuts, try a milk alternative… mix and match! It is basically there to spruce up your look on cereal. I thorough enjoyed having shredded wheat minis with some fresh fruit and almond milk. You can grab a free bowl of cereal from now until the 23rd, with personalised cereal boxes for £3.

Nestlé as you may or may not be aware, are on a regular basis looking at ways to reduce the salt and sugar content of their cereals, so I tend to stick to Shredded Wheat, Shreddies and Cheerios. These are the healthiest options from the Nestlé range and if like me you’re very conscious of sugar and salt you consume, or looking at watching your weight these three are the ultimate goodies to have on your side.

Don’t be fearful of eating breakfast. Some people have this warped idea that skipping it will make you slimmer. Yes you will be consuming less calories but you’re far more likely to binge or eat the wrong things later on. I do however only eat breakfast when I am hungry. Unless I have been up for hours I do not eat my breakfast until about 9.30-10am. I can’t eat to early as I am not hungry then – only eat when you are hungry.

Win Win Win |

With this in mind and celebration of both the Aisle of Wonder and my devotion to breakfast time! I have a lovely little competition to hopefully inspire you to love breakfast as much as me. I have teamed up with Nestlé to give 3 lucky readers the chance to win a personalised cereal box! Just enter via Rafflecopter below!
