I cannot believe we’re already approaching ski season! It feels like forever since I was out on the slopes and enjoying those afternoon teas back at the hotel. I’ve only ever been on one kind of ski package holiday and mine was with Mark Warner Ski Holidays. Today I’m going to explain why travelling with a ski package holiday specialist, like Mark Warner, is definitely the way to go.

I travelled to Tignes with Mark Warner and we absolutely loved it, so I’m basing this entire post around my Mark Warner experience, one we hope to revisit in the near future. By the way, the skiing here is incredible and a place I’d highly recommend! We stayed at the Mark Warner hotel L’Ecrin in Tignes, but make sure you check out their ski packages, here are some great ski holiday deals so you too can enjoy the snow!

Reason 1 | Mark Warner made is easy to get the ski resort

I’m all about independent travel and the buzz of planning hotels and what we’ll do, but quite frankly skiing is a faff to organise. 9 times out of 10 the ski resort is nowhere near the airport! You’d either need to hire a car or book yourself on an expensive transfer, which nobody wants to do because lift passes are notoriously pricey as it is.  Throw in car hire and the incredibly sketchy drive up the mountain, and you’re feeling stressed before you’ve even got there! The beauty of a ski package holiday like one with Mark Warner, you get a coach ride direct to resort and your hotel. You can literally sit back, relax and let someone do the hard work for you.

Reason 2| They’ll help you plan your ski holiday

Sometimes, believe it or not, people don’t want to ski on a ski package holiday, or they may want a few days of skiing and that be it. The one thing I have noticed over the years is people think the mountains in winter are just for skiers and snowboards – they are wrong.

You can do lots more such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, pony rides, sleigh rides, ice skating, dog sledging, skidooing – to name only a few. Mark Warner was always on hand to work with their partners to get you booked in and offer some exclusive discounts. Staff also live and love the mountains, so they’ll also help give guidance on whatever you want to do.

They can also sort out your equipment hire and your ski lift passes, so you don’t have to do a thing – this part gets a huge tick from me as I’m all about hassle-free!

Reason 3 | Mark Warner’s food

Had to mention food because if you have been on the slopes all day, you’ll obviously need a jolly good feed! Mark Warner offered buffet-style breakfasts, so you can get fully fuelled for an active day and a great dinner in the evening.

There was afternoon tea every day in the main dining area – which was my favourite part! You could come down the mountain to have tea and cake, either stay down to use the facilities or head back up for the last lifts. Once a week staff had the evening off allowing guests to explore the area and sample the local cuisine.

Reason 4 | Childcare and adult-only

Obviously, I don’t have children but I know people who do and I’m fully aware that if you ski and have kids, enjoying your ski holiday can become tricky. You want to be up on the piste every day, but who will look after the children? Mark Warner offers a children’s club so parents can quite literally indulge fully in their holiday knowing their children are being looked after by dedicated staff.

If like us you don’t have children and want a child-free ski holiday, Mark Warner even offer adult-only resorts. Not many do this, and I find it important and also impressive to provide both child care and adult only options.

Reason 5 | Staff are the best

I have actually worked a ski season, running an independent chalet, so I know how it works. Staff are there because they love the mountains and hopefully, skiing or snowboarding. They know the area and their passion is customer service but also providing personality. The Mark Warner staff we met were some of the best, in fact back in Val d’Isere where we lived, the Mark Warner hotel next door had staff that became some of our best friends during our season.

To summarise ski package holidays will win every time, especially when it comes to visiting those places which are harder to reach. I particularly liked Mark Warner ski holidays because they have a very outdoors/adventure mentality and that comes across when you are with them. Staff are passionate, they offer so much more than any other ski package holiday providers, and their accommodation is always the best offered. To get a real feel for a Mark Warner ski holiday check out our video below.
