When we go away on holiday we often go with the intention of relaxing. That image of us with a drink in hand by the pool, or watching the waves roll over our toes buried in the sand… sounds lush right? Of course, it does! But what if you are looking for somewhere to relax, but also keep active and get that tricky balance? Where do you go? What do you do? You need to visit Tenerife and stay at the Iberostar Anthelia Tenerife hotel.
Tenerife is a gorgeous place in the Canary Islands, and I have been lucky to visit numerous times as my godparents live there. Each time I go I find something new! It is an incredibly beautiful location, especially when you go and explore. Luckily the Iberostar Anthelia hotel is in the perfect spot on the southern coast of Tenerife in Costa Adeje, a place that will check a lot of boxes for holiday makers.
Why Costa Adeje?
Costa Adeje is what I like to think of as tranquil Tenerife. It’s a little slower paced than the other areas, and that isn’t saying it is boring, quite the opposite in fact. There are lots of places to explore, fantastic restaurants and beautiful of course beautiful views. It just has this ambience about it that makes it the ideal place to relax and steady yourself.
Why the Iberostar Anthelia?
The Iberostar Anthelia hotel is a 5-star hotel situated only a stone’s throw away from the beaches of Tenerife, meaning you get gorgeous sea front views to wake up to. It’s a mere 6 minutes walk to Playa Del Duque and only a minute walk from Centro Comercial Plaza del Duque – the main shopping centre. However, if like me you like to give yourself the opportunity to explore, you’re around an hours walk away from the Nature Reserve Barranco del Infierno and obviously, if you wanted to see more of the rural part of Tenerife, you’re only a 50-minute drive to the glorious Mount Tiede. It is the ideal location for a bit of everything!
Sports and Activities
As mentioned, whenever I travel I like the opportunity to sit and relax, which I can easily do at the Iberostar Anthelia hotel within their pool, but what else can I do? I absolutely love when the hotel provides free additional activities.
You can use their state of the art gym should you want to remain indoors, but again, if like me you’re a little more adventurous and want to exercise outside, you can! The hotel offers bike tours – how incredible is that? And Tenerife is somewhere I’d love to cycle in. There are hiking tours so you can explore easily on foot, additional cost golf courses, and then within the hotel, you have tennis courts and my favourite thing, fitness classes!
Relaxing and unwinding
Once I’ve been active on holiday I do like the option to do nothing! I’m a huge spa go-er and luckily this hotel has a spa on site. Result. They offer such a range I didn’t know what I’d start with first, but I must point out this hotel offers something called Purifying Therapy.
“The Mayr Kur Space therapy at the Iberostar Anthelia hotel in Tenerife will leave you feeling completely revived. Dr Gustavo Pezzini will help you confront body imbalances and chronic illnesses caused by poor eating habits and malabsorption of nutrients’
Sounds rather exciting! But if you’re not interested in that, you have a Thermal Circuit – which I’ve tried before and highly recommend. This is amazing for those sore muscles! If you have an all-inclusive package deal then you’re free to use the active pool, jets and waterfalls circuit, 40-degree pool, a cold-water pool, Finnish sauna, and a Turkish bath. So, plenty to keep you occupied! But if you head to Spa Sensations you’ll be able to book in for your relaxation treatments.
Other features
After visiting their website and reading reviews, this 5-star hotel has so much to offer that I can only imagine what it would be like in reality. Everything I’ve seen and heard about the brand and hotel have been excellent. There are some other things however, I feel are worth mentioning.
- Free wifi – we all love our social media to share those envious hot dogs or legs sun lounger snaps… so we all need wifi and it’s free here!
- Star Camp – if you have kiddies this hotel will blow your socks off with everything it offers for families. It is designed as a family hotel, but it has so much to keep your children happy and entertained that adults can actually have a holiday. Whilst I’m childless, friends and family who have stayed in a Iberostar hotel have gushed about how great their facilities for children have been
- Sleeping Well – Ever been on holiday and had a terrible bed to sleep in? Yes so have I. Iberostar actually pride themselves on great beds, so you’re sure to get a jolly good nights sleep too.
- Wave of Change – This is actually one of the biggest things that made me fall in love with this brand. As a Surfers Against Sewage Community Lead, I’m trying to make 2019 my year to make significant changes to help the environment. Iberostar Hotels has started a project called, Waves of Change. With more than 80% of their hotels being beachfront, the company has decided to focus on the conservation of seas and oceans to contribute to the evolution of increasingly sustainable tourism. Why I would like to go….
Tenerife is special to me, but I’ve never had a chance to stay in this location. There are lots of outdoors activities you can do here, but you can return to excellent service. You also know you don’t need to explore to have fun, there are plenty of facilities to use should you wish to spend the day around the hotel. The location wins every time for me, but the brand itself is forward thinking and looking to the future with its environmental conscious.
Another option if you wanted the same level of service, with a good balance of activities and a dash of relaxation, take a look at the Iberostar Llaut Palma hotel in Playa De Palma in Mallorca. All I’m going to say is head over to the website and look at the location… A huge thumbs up from me!
