In the picturesque Tri-Valley region, Nella Terra Cellars is renowned for its stunning vineyards, elegant event spaces, and unforgettable experiences. Established as a family-owned and operated vineyard, Nella Terra Cellars has made a name for itself with its exquisite wines and breathtaking landscapes.

When I went to visit recently, they truly outdid themselves by hosting a unique event: yoga with pigs. Yes, you read that right! Combining the tranquility of yoga with the adorable antics of tiny pigs… this event was an absolute delight, raising both money and awareness for our precious porcine friends.

An Unforgettable Yoga Experience

As an avid yogi and animal lover, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to attend this event. The drive to Nella Terra Cellars is an enjoyable journey setting the perfect tone for a day of relaxation and fun. Upon arrival, the beauty of the estate took my breath away! All I kept thinking was how incredible it would be to getting married here! However, it was still the ideal location for an outdoor yoga session.

Welcomed with Open Arms

The event started with a warm welcome from the friendly staff, who directed us to a beautiful grassy area where could see the vineyards. Everyone laid their yoga mats out in neat rows, and just a few feet away, but now beginning to move about, adorable piglets awaited. The excitement was palpable as participants eagerly took their places.

Connecting with Nature and Animals

Our instructor, a serene and charismatic yogi, began the session with some grounding breaths and gentle stretches. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the still of the area, combined with the vineyard visuals, it created a perfect backdrop. As we moved into more dynamic poses, the piglets were feeling more confident and appearing right nextto us, and the real fun began!

Joyful Piggy Interactions

The pigs, curious and playful, wandered among us, sometimes nuzzling a hand, trotting across a mat or snuffling little treats left in the grass. Their joyful energy was infectious, adding an unexpected element of spontaneity to the yoga practice. It was impossible not to smile as these little creatures explored and interacted with everyone.

A Delightful Twist on Yoga Poses

One of the highlights was attempting the downward dog with a piglet snuggling up next to me. Their presence was soothing and added a delightful twist to the familiar poses. The session was expertly guided to ensure that both humans and pigs felt comfortable and engaged throughout.

A Moment of Gratitude

As the yoga session came to a close, we enjoyed shavasana followed by a moment of gratitude. The session definitely made me reflect on the joy and simplicity that animals bring into our lives. We concluded with a communal “namaste,” feeling both rejuvenated and enriched by the unique experience.

Post-Yoga Delights: Wine tasting

After the yoga session, we received tokens for a complimentary glass of wine from the vineyard, adding a touch of elegance to the event. We had the opportunity to mingle with fellow participants and, of course, before we moved to go get a wine, spend a littlle more time with the pigs. The staff at Nella Terra Cellars were delightful to speak to and helped me decided on which offering was the right choice for me. Sipping on a crisp Sauvignon Blanc while watching the over the vineyards was the perfect way to enjoy the day.

Celebrating Nature and Community

This wonderful event was not just a novelty; it was a celebration of nature, community, and the simple pleasures of life. It also aimed to raise money and awareness for the pigs, highlighting the importance of compassion and care for all creatures. If you ever find yourself in the Tri-Valley area, I highly recommend checking out this extraordinary event. It’s an experience that will leave you with a full heart, a wide smile, and a newfound appreciation for our piggy pals.
