It only feels like 5 minutes ago it was Christmas 2017, but here we are with Christmas 2018 on our doorstep. I have nearly purchased all of my presents after numerous trips to Highcross Leicester, which means I can actually enjoy all the festivities without stressing over gifts. I never get a chance to really relax over Christmas, but after getting my first taste of what festive events are like last night at the Highcross Leicester, I now feel ready to embrace the holiday season.
Christmas is coming to Highcross Leicester
I went to the Highcross Leicester for the first in their series of festive events, this one was called White Christmas and set the scene for things to come. We got the perfect spot for the start of the White Christmas parade at the popup German-themed BBQ food and drink spot, Jägerhaus. We settled down at the wooden tables and had a delicious Bratwurst and a hot chocolate.
Soon the parade began from the Highcross building trailing out across the food court area. Starting with giant human snowflakes in glittered elaborate costumes, then elegant stilt walkers, giant swans, silver dragons and finally a lady guiding a reindeer. But just to add the reindeer wasn’t real, instead, it was a very expressive reindeer costume – and very cute at that!
Snowing… in Leicester?
As the parade of festively-themed characters headed around the courtyard, snow began to fall. It felt like Mother Nature had timed it perfectly to set the mood, when in fact it was actually fake snow! It looked incredible as it cascaded down from the Highcross rooftops.
Christmas at the Highcross Leicester
As you may or may not know, I lived in Leicester for about 5 years so I know the area well. The Highcross has really changed Leicester for the better, as the centre is more than just shopping, it’s actually quite an eclectic experience. For example, Social Climbing which I went to a few months ago – it is awesome! Going shopping at the Highcross was always my Christmas shopping go-to, and that is still very much the case. You’ll always find Santa’s Grotto, beautiful decorations, plenty of places for food and drink and more importantly, a diverse mix of shops!
Ready to feel festive?
If you want to head to Highcross Leicester for a spot of shopping, you can stop off at Jägerhaus for that all important festive mulled wine until 24th December, until 9 pm every day. All the decorations are up and Christmas is all systems go! If you want to see what events are happening at the Highcross pop over here… but Santa arrives today and a little tip, if you download the Highcross Plus app you can get a free hot chocolate at Jägerhaus.
Big thanks to Highcross for inviting me over, I can officially announce I am ready for Christmas 2018!
